(on the left) A potential buyer inspects
some of the Professors framed posters.
(On the right)This
Rick Griffin original painting was estimated somewhere in the
neighborhood of $8000...which is a very respectable neighborhood!
This
is the Organ that John Lennon
bought while in India around the Sergant Pepper era. The gavel came down
and it sold for $9500! Check John peeking out from behind it! Alittle
photo magic , from the "Prof".
There was so very
much to look at during the inspection. The two days that were given to do
so seemed almost insufficient.
This was truly a pleasure to see up close!
The original oil painting for the cover of It's a Beautiful Day's
first albumn. The artist was Kent Hollister. Estimated value,
$7500. With that kinda money it better come with an original autographed
albumn as well!
Assemblage
sculpture circa 1979 by artist, Lois Anderson "Dakini"
Valued at, $1500-$1800. And yes, it DID sell!
This 1964 work by WES
Wilson, really packs a punch in this frame of silver barbed wire, with
crimson metalic red barbs! I always felt that it needed a frame that could
help complete the statement that the poster makes. So I finally got off
mbutt and did it! I can honestly say that I shed blood for this paticular
project! It's still available to the right home! Email the Prof and we
can discuss the possibilities!
Here is yet
another beautifully framed (black lacquer) image. A favorite of many by
artist, Stanley Mouse "Cat Under The Stars". This
is a silkscreened piece that also happens to be an artist's proof! It is
actually as tall as the frame it's in. (aprox. 30 inches) Just cropped down
by it's matte.
This is the ULTIMATE score for the archives here in
Posterville! It is the ORIGINAL CONTRACT to what is
considered the very first gig for the Charlatans who are said to be
the first of the San Francisco Psychedelic Rock Bands. Signed by all of the
band members and RED DOG SALOON owner, the band agrees to play this
historic preformance in June of 1965. This is really a grail type
item poster-pals!
It has finally come to rest in a place where it can be enjoyed and seen
by many, next to the original "SEED" plate! Go to the
"SEED" chapter in the index and learn more about this very rare
poster and seminal event. And or, " THE ART OF ROCK" book page
89. Posterville couldn't let this once in a lifetime chance get away. And
so that is where the treasury funding for 1997 went.....and well worth
it!
