The Music Collector's Expo was a veritable groupie's paradise of
"classic collecibles," like Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Cafe, and
Disney rolled into one memorable memorabilia show. Under one roof was
nostalgia items appealing to all, including graying Sinatra bobby-soxers
and fanatical Deadheads.
Jim Phillips, one of many
premier rock 'n roll poster artists, sold and autographed his posters at
the expo.
Rusty Goldman of
Pacifica, better known as Professor Poster, was the show's most
colorful character. Wearing a vintage 1910 Edwardian suit made in England,
with top hat and cane, he presided over a mini-museum of rock memorabilia
bulging with original posters, printing plates, manuscripts, sheet music,
publicity photos and prototypes of what are now rare rock guitars with
worldwide notoriety. Also a freelance artist, rock history lecturer, and
actor, Professor Poster is a collectors' collector and close friend of many
of the major figures of rock music past and present.
